Just Resist: An Evening with Winona LaDuke and Water Protectors

On June 3rd, from 4-6pm, communities from across southern Oregon and northern California will gather at the SOU campus to raise awareness around indigenous sovereignty, environmental justice, climate action, and community resistance against large fossil fuel projects like the Jordan Cove LNG Export Terminal and the Pacific Connector fracked gas pipeline.

The event will take place on traditional Shasta and Takelma Territory (Learn more about the traditional territory that you live on at www.native-land.ca).

Join water protectors from across the area and internationally-renowned activist, and writer, Winona LaDuke. Winona LaDuke works on issues of sustainable development, renewable energy and food systems. She lives on the White Earth reservation in northern Minnesota and will be sharing about her work on seed sovereignty, fighting the Line 3 tarsands pipeline and indigenous rights.

The proceeds from the event will go towards Winona LaDuke’s organization, Honor The Earth and the Next Generation Climate Justice Action Camp . Honor the Earth is a national advocacy group encouraging public support and funding for Native environmental groups. Learn more about Honor the Earth at www.honorearth.org.
