Community Events

Hikers will bring people together in protest and friendship as they participate in 4 different town events along the route (there will be one community event in each impacted county). These events are being planned by members of the impacted communities, which will ensure the events are organic and candid expressions of the community's story. Come check out an event near you!

Coos Bay - September 26, 12pm-6pm

Malin - August 22 at 10am

At the intersection of Hwy 114 & Loveness Drive

Hike the Pipe! will begin at the gas hub just outside of Malin, OR (near Klamath Falls). We will host a small kickoff ceremony and then send hikers on their way westward towards the Pacific Ocean! We invite members of the community to walk the first day alongside hikers (3.5 miles) and then join hikers for a picnic at the Malin RV park at 3pm.

Shady Cove - September 5 from 1pm-3pm

Upper Rogue Regional County Park

Come check out Hike the Pipe!'s community event on the Rogue River! Hikers will descend from the Cascade mountains and arrive to the Shady Cove event by boat. Yes indeed, the hikers will be floating five miles of the Rogue River and would like to have you and your family join them! Any interested kayaktivists should meet hikers at Rogue Elk at 10am that morning for a 5 mile float along the beautiful Rogue River. Come celebrate this public treasure and tell our policy makers that the Rogue is not for sale!

Winston - September 15 from 4pm-8pm

Riverbend Park Pavilion

243 Thompson Avenue, Winston OR

Join the hikers and hear their stories! Relax and break bread with neighbors and get your fun on! Bring chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner and join the Hike the Pipe Celebration! Music by Kenny Holmes and the Blues Daddies, Slow Ponies, Virgil Robinson, and the Raging Grannies!
