In September, Ashland’s City Council will finally vote to approve the Climate Action Ordinance. There are two upcoming city council meetings that you need to be at to help get this ordinance over the finish line!
For over a year now, Ashland Youth Climate Action has been working with the city to develop a science-based, equitable, and accountable Climate and Energy Action Plan. The ordinance is an important part of adding accountability to Ashland’s plan to reduce climate pollution and transition to clean energy. To be approved, city council must vote on the ordinance at two separate meetings- once on September 5 and once on September 19.
Will you join Ashland Youth Climate Action and Rogue Climate at the next City Council meeting to support the ordinance? Passing the Climate Action Ordinance will be a historic moment for city of Ashland, and you won’t want to miss it.
Please wear blue to show your support for the ordinance.
The ordinance affirms the city’s commitment to the goals and strategies laid out in the Climate and Energy Action Plan (CEAP), in addition to creating an avenue for community engagement by requiring the city to give frequent updates on our progress. You can read more about the ordinance at the bottom of this email.
