Clean Energy Day a Success

Clean Energy Day: a big success
!

Despite rain, wind, and the occasional sun burst to dry us off, our own clean energy SUN lit up the event all afternoon!

For those that missed it, Rogue Climate put together a rocking' celebration of clean energy yesterday in Medford, Oregon. Over 800 people from the Rogue Valley made posters and over 300 people attended to rock out to local bands, sip on local brews, learn about local clean energy businesses, and participate in a 100 foot-wide art piece to make the statement that we are ready for local, cleaner energy. Did we mention it was completely powered by bikes? Check out the slideshow to get a taste of the day and like us on Facebook to see more photos.

Benefit and Fast for the Philippines and Climate Action: Nov. 2013

Rogue Climate joined with faith leaders from around the Rogue Valley for a week of solidarity with those who were impacted by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and to help make the connection between climate change and increasingly intense weather events.

Close to 30 community members, faith leaders and high school students participated in a day of fasting to support Yeb Sano, the main delegate from the Philippines to the UN climate talks in Warsaw, Poland, as he fasted for the 12 day conference to urge leaders to move forward with meaningful climate action. Rogue Climate organized vigils in both Medford and Ashland and ended the week  with a benefit concert to raise money for Filipino grassroots recovery efforts. Many thanks to the Suavés, FrankieHernandez and the Old Soul Parade, and Caldera Taphouse for the amazing tunes and venue as well as to all the generous donors through out the week!  We were able to raise over $1,000 to send to the Brigada Kalikasan, a grassroots relief group on the ground in the Philippines, and had nearly 40 postcards signed that expressed concern over the global impacts of climate change. It’s a Rogue Thing: Bringing Climate Concerns Home: Feb. 2013

This is where it all started!

A group of Rogue Valley locals and community organizations got together to join in on the largest national call for climate action in U.S. history on Feb. 17th. Over 1,000 people contributed to make 1,400 beautiful art pieces depicting what they loved about the Rogue Valley and what worries them about climate change.

These pieces came together to make an incredible 117 ft Salmon in downtown Medford, Oregon during a day of climate celebration. Close to 400 people attended to check out the salmon, listen to speakers, groove to the tunes of Frankie Hernandez, and to show their support for taking climate action now. Check out the photo before!
